Habitat for Humanity has begun the process of constructing its third Habitat home for a local family. Habitat for Humanity has begun the process of constructing its third Habitat home for a local family. Fill dirt began arriving Jan. 31 at the corner of Washington and Lee Streets. It was a long awaited moment for one family in Blakely.

Plans have been in the works for months to begin preparing the site for several new homes. The first house to be constructed on the site will be for Tonya Tinsley and her family.

So far, the Blakely-Early County Habitat for Humanity has planned for the first several weeks after the grade work is complete. These weeks include preparing the footing, laying the block work, subflooring and frame work.

Habitat is in the process of securing volunteers for the next stages that include truss work, roof decking, installation of the doors and windows, roofing and plumbing.

If you would like to help with one or more of these

stages, please call the main office at 724-7171.
