Henry Brown

Henry "Bubba" Brown, 77, of Blakely died Saturday, April 11, 2009.

Mr. Brown was born in Jakin to the late Rev. Thomas M. Brown and Adel Brown. He was a member of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church and served in the U.S. Army for six years.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Cora Mae Wilkes and Beatrice Wilkes; one brother, Thomas Carl Brown; and his stepmother, Ethel Brown.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Brown; four daughters, Lillie Mae Ford and husband Carson of Miami, Fla., Katie Kirkland and husband Samuel of Tampa, Fla., Vicki Brown and husband Dachon of Pensacola, Fla., and June Brown of Dothan, Ala.; four sisters, Mildred Young of Elizabeth, N.J.; Allie Mae Bouie of Brooklyn, N.Y., Emma McKenzie of Union, N.J., and Mamie L. Howard and husband Tommy of Bainbridge; one brother, Wonderful Brown and wife Bonnie Ruth of Blakely; one step-brother, Ulysses Saffold and wife Ophelia of Tampa, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Friday, April 17, 2009, at 12 p.m. at Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church with Rev. Alvetta Butler officiating. Interment followed at Good Hope African Methodist Episcopal Church Cemetery.

Community Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
