Southwest Georgia Academy Warriors fell to Deerfield-Windsor Academy in Albany in their first loss of the season, 21-0. The Warriors traveled to Albany Friday night to take on the Deerfield- Windsor Knights.

Though they came up short, with a final score of 21-0, the Warriors never gave up and played their hearts out.

The only problem was stopping Tony Zenon, DWS running back. He hurt the Warriors on two plays with two big runs for touchdowns. Other than that, the Warriors did a decent job containing him. The Warrior defense had one turnover by senior quarter back and corner back, Andrew Stone, who had one interception. Juniors Cody Buckhalter and Taylor Tabb led the team in tackles.

The Warriors’ offense had some trouble moving the ball on offense. The first drive looked promising, as they powered the ball down the field near the Deerfield 20, where they were stopped on downs. They finished the night with 104 yards on the ground, most of which came from senior running back Nile Knapp, who had 81 yards on 24 carries. Senior Weston Lee had four carries for 20 yards while junior Troupe Tabb had three carries for nine yards. Senior quarterback Andrew Stone went 10 for 16 and had 57 yards passing and one interception that came late in the game. Senior tight end and wide receiver Danny Doster led the way in receiving yards with 24 on four catches. Senior running back Knapp and junior wide receiver Buckhalter each had two catches for 15 yards. Senior Lee had two catches for three yards.

The Warriors travel to Chula Friday night to kick off region play against rival Tiftarea. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
