Team defends region record

Early County volleyball team members faced fierce competition from the Randolph-Clay Red Devils Sept. 24. The ECHS volleyball girls are winding down their season. To date, their record is 7-3 in the region.

They begin playing all nine region teams again Thursday, Oct. 1 at 4:30 p.m., against Brookstone and Central in Blakely. Senior team members will be recognized during this game.

Brookstone currently holds first place in the region. Play thus far is for the seed in the area tournament. The area tournament will be played here Friday, Oct. 9 and Saturday, Oct. 10. The top four teams from this tournament will move on to the state tournaments.

The match Thurs., Sept. 24 against Randolph-Clay was one of the most exciting to date. Early County lost the first game 19 to 25 and won the second, 25 to 21. The girls then starting playing up to their potentials. Spikes sizzled the floor from Quanesia Graham, Alyssa Walton and Nett Reed. Katy Anderson served 16 straight points. Seara Crozier saved the ball inches from the floor on several plays. The girls played with heart and cleaned up the match with a 25 to 6 win.
