Enjoy stargazing at Providence Canyon

Providence Canyon State Outdoor Recreation Area will host an evening of stargazing Saturday, March 5 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Columbus State University and the Coca-Cola Space Science Center will present this program in the day use area at the state park.

A PowerPoint presentation will be the introduction of what beautiful viewings might be seen in the night skies, and then visitors are invited to view the skies through the numerous telescopes that will be available. Some nocturnal sites that may be seen will include planets, constellations, nebulas, galaxies and perhaps meteorites and satellites. You may bring your own telescope to the program for instructions and viewing or enjoy the ones that are provided.

Providence Canyon State Park is an ideal location to view the night skies because there is no light pollution in the area. It is located in Stewart County, eight miles west of Lumpkin on Highway 39C. There is a $5 parking fee per vehicle. For more information, visit http:// www.fdr- littlewhitehouse.org.
