Special election runoff July 14

Special election results: McCoy - 134, Wimberly - 119, Price - 87

Harvey McCoy Harvey McCoy City voters in District 1 went to the polls in last week’s special city election, casting 340 votes for the three candidates vying for the vacant Post 2 city council seat.

None of the three candidates received a majority of the votes setting in motion plans for a July 14 Special Election Runoff between Harvey McCoy and Margaret Wimberly.

McCoy received 134 votes followed by Wimberly with 119. Travis Price received 87 votes.

The District 1, Post 2 city council seat has been vacant since Torrè Mills’ resignation in January due to a “conflict of schedule.” The winner of the July 14 runoff election will be sworn in immediately following the election to fill the remainder of the term which expires Dec. 31, 2015.
