SWGA Retired Educators attend meeting


Retired educators pictured above attended the Area I meeting in Donalsonville. Retired educators pictured above attended the Area I meeting in Donalsonville. The Southwest Georgia Retired Educators attended the Georgia Retired Educators Association Area I meeting in Donalsonville recently.

The meeting was called to order by the Area I director, Marsha Bond, greeting were given by Seminole County School Superintendent Brinson Register and the inspiration was given by Dot Nickoley of SCREA.

The speakers were Jim Haymans, president of GREA for 2015- 16; Jesse Hunter, president elect; Dr. Bill Sloan, executive director, James Twiggs, Area I membership director; Mike Zarem, TRS; and Brad Jones, AMBA.

This year’s theme is “Soaring with Eagles.” Each unit who contributes at least $100 to the humanitarian project will be placed on the Wall of Honor, “Healing for Heroes” at the state convention in Augusta in 2016.

Members from Southwest Georgia Retired Educators attending were Essie Chester, Dicy C. Burkes, Brenda Scott, Betty Henderson, Beauty L. Smith, Betty Mills, Glynda Harris, Ruth Tolbert, Cynthia Williams, Nellie Welch, Lauriene Daniels and Josephine Scott.
