Another bypass wreck injures 6

Another eastbound vehicle failed to stop at the intersection of U.S. 27 and Ga. 62 bypasses Sunday afternoon sending six people to the hospital.

According to the GSP accident report, Zikierra Q. Tift, 17, was driving a 2008 Honda Accord when she failed to stop at the intersection and was hit on the driver’s side by a 2014 Buick Lacrosse driven by Ferken Lee Williams, 27, of Bainbridge.

The drivers and two passengers in each vehicle were all taken by ambulance to the emergency room at Pioneer Community Hospital. The News has been unable to verify the extent of the six wreck victims’ injuries, but it is believed none of the injuries were life threatening.

The passengers in the Buick were Ashley Sherelle Williams, 32, and Kenslei Deneace Williams, 7, both of Bainbridge. The two passengers in the Honda were Taliah De’Anna Wesley, 15, and Keonna Tienise Jackson, 13, both of Blakely.

The accident happened just before 6 p.m. Sunday afternoon. Due to the number of tragic accidents at the intersection, the DOT is conducting a study of the intersection, requested by the city, to determine what improvements would make the intersection safer.

In recent months there have been several wrecks at the intersection, killing a Tallahassee woman and another critically injuring a local couple.
