Here comes Michael!

Mumbles
Billy Fleming

NOTE: With a hurricane breathing down our necks, the paper went to press early this week due to likely power outages.

Bestselling author Elizabeth Sims asked a group of school kids, “What do you need to write a story of suspense? One kid yelled, “Put in a bad guy!”

As I’m writing this just before noon Tuesday, the air is full of suspense, and we have a bad guy... Michael!

It’s being hyped as being the worst storm to make landfall in the Panhandle/Big Bend area of the coast in decades.

Is it just me, or do some of those TV meteorologists, especially those on the Weather Channel, seem to be having too much fun with storms! I get it. This is what they trained to do.

I hope I’m preaching to the choir when I say, if you haven’t already, now is an important time to sign up to receive the CodeRed Weather Alerts!

They ain’t going to call you when a hurricane is coming. When they call there is a severe thunderstorm or tornado bearing down on you!

Most of us have friends along the coast in the path of Michael. Even under mandatory evacuation they need our prayers.

If Michael continues its ways, those prayers are going to needed by those of us across Southwest Georgia, too!

Don’t forget our farmers... Michael may wipe out what was looking like one of the best crops in years.
