Woman beat, then struck by vehicle


Eaford Eaford Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a 911 call on E. South Blvd. Sept. 8 in reference to a female subject struck by a car. Upon arriving the deputes learned the victim had first been struck with a stick or tire tool.

The victim was struck by a vehicle as the suspect was fleeing the scene.

EMS treated the victim at the scene, then transfered her the Early County airport where she was flown by helicopter to a Tallahassee hospital.

An arrest warrant was obtained for Rodney Eaford, 47, of Blakely. The Sheriff’s Investigative Division assisted in the investigation and the search for the suspect.

At approximately 9:30 Saturday night, one of the investigators located Eaford and arrested him without incident.

Eaford is being held in the Early County jail on charges of aggravated assault and violation of probation. Additional charges may be filed.

ECHS school sweep

The Early County Sheriff’s Office two K-9 teams, with assistance from K-9 units from Miller and Seminole counties conducted a safety and drug sweep at the Early County High School Sept 7.

A small amount of marijuana was confiscated during a search of one of the classrooms. Juvenile complaints were filed on two students in connection with the marijuana and they will have to appear at a future date in Juvenile Court.
